Crystal Springs Beertender Position

In our taprooms, the Beertender must be familiar with the wide variety of beers we offer and capable of delivering quality customer service. The Beertender is responsible for serving patrons at either of our taprooms, fulfilling beer and food orders for the taprooms, beer garden, and patio, monitoring the cash drawer at the bar, and performing inventories at the end of each night or as required to help in maintaining proper inventory levels.

This is a part-time position, starting at 2-3 shifts per week as needed, with the possibility of more shifts in the summer.

Job Duties:
–Serving Customer–
> Greet customers cheerfully and encourage an atmosphere of hospitality in the taproom
> Work collaboratively to improve the taproom experience
> Collect money for beers served
> Check identification of customers to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol
> Attempt to limit problems and liability related to customers’ excessive drinking by taking steps such as persuading customers to stop drinking, or ordering transportation for intoxicated patrons
> Know how to pour a beer properly, according to our standards
> Take food and beverage orders from serving staff or directly from patrons
> Upsell merchandise to patrons in the taproom
> Engage customers, make sales, and answer questions
> Know our beers and be able to describe them accurately

> Stock bar
> Complete assigned weekly and monthly inventory tasks
> Communicate beer and merchandise needs for inventory
> Communicate changes of beers on tap and to-go beer to help keep taproom menus and online store up-to-date
> Track kegs and cases moved to the taproom

> Maintain a clean, friendly, and welcoming environment for all guests at all times
> Clean glasses, utensils, and bar equipment
> Clean bars, work areas, and tables
> Clean bathrooms, mop floors, vacuum carpets, and clean food preparation areas

–Marketing and Sales–
> Work with the owners and marketing department to properly market the taproom
> Actively promote the brewery and taprooms at every opportunity – inside and outside the taproom
> Actively sell to-go beer – ask every customer if they would like to-go beer and let them know what we have
> Know the story of our brewery
> Be knowledgeable of upcoming taproom and brewery events and actively promote those events

Job Requirements:
> Bartending or wait staff experience desired
> Availability to work part-time in the evenings and on weekends
> Craft beer knowledge preferred. We will provide ongoing training materials and hands-on training
> Must be able to work efficiently in a fast-moving environment
> Must be 21 years or older
> Must enjoy working with the public in a positive, friendly manner
> Must be an effective communicator
> Must be able to serve and support CSBC at beer festivals and tasting events throughout Colorado
> Have the ability to move kegs and operate a hand truck
> Ability to lift 35-50 pounds
> Must be able to use a hand truck to move 160 pounds
> Demonstrated leadership skills
> Attention to detail and an ability to multi-task
> Positive attitude and ability to work with a diverse set of people
> Versatility, as you may be required to help with hosting, bussing, and canning

Things We Would Like:
> Knowledge of craft beer, including a basic understanding of beer production (Cicerone Beer Server or similar certification preferred)
> Basic familiarity with tablet-based POS systems (Square), Google Sheets, and Google Forms
